This postcard certainly dates from 1902 or 1903 when this specially designed Serpollet race car was at the Nice Races in France. This artist signed card carries the name of Lance Thackeray, who (according to Wikipedia ) was an English illustrator who produced some 950 postcard designs.
The French phrase "Je suis pressé de savoir," which translates literally as "I am hurried to know," has (as VSCM's resident French Translator, CJ Hoke, notes) more of an idiomatic meaning of "I'm anxious to know."
This second example is postmarked December 20, 1904.
This third example is postmarked June 27, 1906.
The Tatler featured the Serpollet Racing Car on page 165 of its April 30, 1902 issue. Its illustrations from "The Motor Car show at the Agricultural Hall" includes a Locombile set up for military service. There is a rifle on its seat and a carriage with a generator and spotlight.
Daniel Bellet of Paris published this extensive article about the Serpollet in mid 1902. Its source is unknown.
