James Hill of Fleetwood, PA built a steam automobile in 1868, later converted it to a gasoline powered car. Hill was granted U.S. Patent # 711,628 for his automobile.
The car may be seen today at the Boyertown Museum. Additional information is available on the Fleetwood Area Historical Society web site.
