International Steam Car Database

The mission of the VSCM is to collect and disseminate information about antique steam automobiles.  This database is the hub for that activity.

This list of steam automobile companies, primarily American, comes originally from Floyd Clymer's Historical Motor Scrapbook: Steam Car Edition, Vol. 1 (Los Angeles, CA, Clymer Motors, 1945), p. 214.  We've also accumulated names from the Encyclopedia of American Automobiles, edited by G. N. Georgano. 

Sometimes companies appear twice, once as the primary company name, such as Coats, and also as the corporate identity, Wisconsin Steamers, Inc.
