Brown Bros. of London advertised the Brown=Whitney Steam Car on April 21, 1900 in The Autocar. The advertisement also noted "From a spark plug to a motor car," suggesting that Brown Bros, like so many other early car makers was hedging its best when it came to the dominant power souce for automobiles.
